A photograph is shaped more by the person behind the camera than by what's in front of it. To prove this we invited six photographers to a portrait session with a twist. ‘Decoy’ is one of six experiments from The Lab, designed to shift creative thinking behind the lens. Want to be part of future The Lab experiments? If we’re always looking for inspiration in the same places, we’re likely to come up with similar results. But what happens when you start finding ideas outside of your own art form - even outside of visuals altogether? Can our other senses be just as powerful sources of inspiration when it comes to creating unique images? THE MENU is another episode from THE LAB, a series of short experiments designed to shift creative thinking behind the lens. It's home to some of the nastiest viruses known to science, including Hendra virus and SARS. Located within the high containment facility at our Australian Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL), in Geelong Victoria, the AAHL Collaborative Biosecurity Research Facility is the world's most advanced biosecure laboratory. This new facility provides Australia with the necessary biosecure and biosafe infrastructure required to undertake research to effectively tackle increasing biosecurity threats, both here in Australia and around the world. Panerai LAB-ID watches in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth - Australia https://goo.gl/9SAeCH To create a watch with remarkable performance and innovative characteristics, the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee has sought inspiration in the world of high technology, exploring the most creative international developments, and it has found the answer in the infinite potential of carbon. Every component of the new PANERAI LAB-ID demonstrates the ability of this chemical element to create materials with exceptional properties: the case, made of a composite material based on carbon fibre; the dial, covered with carbon nanotubes; and the movement that, thanks to the mechanical properties of carbon composites, works without any lubrication. It is a remarkable glimpse into the future of mechanical watchmaking, ...

W00T! Dave finally gets the infamous NBN Internet installed in the lab, fibre to the premises. Moving from $420/month for 20M/20M VDSL 500G data cap to $100/month for 100M/40M Unlimited data. But the NBN does NOT have a business grade Service Level Agreement (SLA) option, it's essentially residential grade. Creativity needs nothing but you. To prove this we invited 6 photographers to a studio shoot. What they didn’t know: The studio was empty. Props and Selfies weren’t allowed. ‘Blank' is one of six experiments from The Lab, designed to shift creative thinking behind the lens. Want to be part of future The Lab experiments? So much of our creativity and inspiration is limited by what we think will make a "good" image, by thoughts we think others will appreciate and ideas that we can already see in our head. So what happens when we ask six photographers to take on a brief that's well outside these boundaries, from a client who has none of these preconceptions? ‘Imagination’ is one of six experiments from The Lab, designed to shift creative thinking behind the lens. The most important tool for any photographer is the mind. To prove this we invited 6 photographers to a cemetery to capture “eternal life” in a single image…without a camera. ‘Mindframe’ is one of six experiments from The Lab, designed to shift creative thinking behind the lens. A portrait will always be a personal image for the subject it captures. Our own face is something we find so familiar and yet so alien. It fills us with curiosity about how others see us and how we see ourselves. But for the photographer, the camera can easily create a sense of separation from their subject. The person in front of their lens can quickly become little more than a shape; a technical problem to be solved, or an exercise for their craft. We invited three photographers to a portrait shoot where the gap between shooter and subject is removed, exploring what happens to a photographer’s experience when portraits become truly personal.

This is a video of blood pressure recording done using Power Lab system (©AD Instruments, Australia) in a healthy human adult subject. The record shows three channels. Channel 1 depicts cuff pressure (recorded using a pressure transducer connected to Riva Rocci cuff), Channel 2 depicts finger pulse (recorded using a pulse transducer attached to index finger of ipsilateral arm) and cardiomicrophone (placed over brachial artery). At the start of the recording, the cuff pressure is close to zero, finger pulse is of normal amplitude and cardiomicrophone shows some noise due to mechanical pulsations picked up by the probe. As the cuff is gradually inflated (around 45th second of the record), pressure begins to rise in Channel 1, finger pulse begins diminishing in amplitude and stray signals a...
Astral Boy your're so high,
will you ever come down
soaring over everyone,
you bigger than the stars,
ohh ohh ohh .....
Astral boy your're so hot,
will you ever melt?
flying so close to thse sun,
now you know how i felt,
ohhh ohh ohhhh.......
Now your're cold, your're so alone,
sitting on the floor
Hardwood boards and abstract thoughts,
gesture to the door
